Lake George Steamboat Company celebrates 200 years
The Lake George Steamboat Company will sail into the New Year with a boatload of events to celebrate its bicentennial.
Incorporated on April 15, 1817, the Lake George Steamboat Company turns 200 in 2017.
This milestone will come with special events throughout the entire year.
“At each event, we’re also going to try to give back to the community in some way,” said Luke Dow of the Steamboat Company.
The festivities start with an ice bar, food trucks and more on Dec. 30 through New Year’s weekend.
On the weekend of April 15, Easter weekend and also the anniversary of the charter granted by New York state, they will offer a Friday Fish Fry Dinner Cruise and complimentary cruises to area residents in appreciation of their support on Saturday of that weekend. There will also be a brunch cruise on Easter Sunday.
On the weekend of June 16-18, the summer season will begin with celebratory cruises aboard all three of the company’s vessels including: The Sternweel Steamboat Minne-Ha-Ha, The Motor Vessel Mohican II and The cruise ship Lac du Saint Sacrement.
Friday night of the June 16-18 weekend, there will be a St. Louis Rub Dinner Cruise aboard the Lac du Saint Sacrement. Saturday evening aboard the same ship, they’ll host their official Bicentennial Bash Cruise, including fireworks.
The Minne-Ha-Ha will run her regular schedule and The Mohican will also run its regular Paradise Bay and Islands of the Narrows cruises with special weekend pricing.
Throughout the summer season, there will be a special pricing for cruises, souvenir giveaways and signature drinks served avoid the boats.
On Aug. 24, they will introduce the new Rock the Dock event headlined by Formula F. The boats will be used as grandstands. They’ll have foot trucks and craft beer and wine available.
A portion of admission proceeds will go to a local fund for the protection of the lake.
From Sept. 22 to 24, during the Adirondack Balloon Festival weekend, the celebration continues all weekend with an entertainment-filled Family Fun Festival on our Deuce Moose grounds across from the pier. Bounce houses, face painting and other activities for the kids will be happening along with a local vendor fair and music for all.
