Capture the Beauty of the Adirondacks - Photography in Lake George

Lake George, New York - Nothing compares to that sensation you receive when you get to the top of an Adirondack mountain summit. The sweeping view of nature's beauty stretches out before you.

It’s both inspiring and humbling, refreshing and exciting! It’s no wonder that you’ll want to capture it and take it home.

You could spend a lifetime discovering and photographing the many visual treasures of the Lake George and Adirondack region. From landscapes and wildlife to crafts, hot air balloon festivals, and fascinating faces, the Adirondacks are filled with intriguing subject matter.

Like any other aspect of life, the early bird gets the worm, or in this case the dramatic shot! The light is most dramatic at dawn and dusk. This is also the time when birds and other animals are most active.

For wildlife shots the edge between forest and meadow is the best place to be. Sit quietly, don’t move about, soon enough all kinds of animals will suddenly appear.

When vacationing in the Adirondacks remember that fantastic shots are just around the corner. They appear out of nowhere, so have your camera ready and bring lots of film. A few helpful hints in your quest for the elusive “perfect shot.”

Helpful Hints in your Quest for the Elusive "Perfect Shot"

  1. Try to shoot just after sunrise and late in the afternoon until sunset. This will add color and create a more dramatic photo.
  2. Include a foreground subject in scenics to give a greater sense of depth.
  3. Use overhead trees or a nearby rock to frame your shot.
  4. Place your subject off to one side of the frame. Try shooting from a higher or lower than normal perspective.
