LET US HELP YOU WITH MARKETING!

Information on advertising in the travel guide is mailed out to the members during the month of August.

"Inquiry Lists"

The Chamber office compiles all of the inquiries it receives. These inquiries are available to our members in several different forms.

1. Printed lists - There is no charge for these lists. These lists include the potential visitors name, address and any other information provided, such as the date of their vacation, number of people, if they want to be on the water, etc.

2. Labels - The labels are $.03 each. You can request certain categories, such as Motels, Housekeeping Cottages, Efficiencies, Special Requests, etc. You can also delete certain items, such as, on lake, pets, etc. The labels are generated in zip code order. You also receive a printed list.

3. Disks - The disks are $3.00 each. You ran either supply us with 5 1/4 size disks or 3 1/2 size disks. Disks can be copied in Q & A program format or standard ASCII format.

All inquiry lists (printed, labels or disks) can either be mailed or picked up. If you are picking them up, they are ready anytime after 2:00 PM. The lists are formulated on Wednesdays during the months of September through April and on Tuesdays and Fridays during May through August. If you would like to have them mailed, you must supply self addressed, stamped envelopes.

"Web Site"

The Chamber has its own web site on the internet. Our address is www.lgchamber.org.

"Vacancy Lists"

During the summer months. and during special events, the Chamber compiles a vacancy list. Starting at the beginning of June, the list is compiled daily. All members must call in every day to be included on that days fist. During the Spring, Fall and Winter, the list is compiled for holiday weekends or special events, such as Columbus Day Weekend, the Winter Festival, Americade etc. You can call the office before business hours and leave your vacancies on the answering machine or during the day call the office on 668-4083 (a special number installed so that the members can always reach the office. Do not give this number out to the public.) When visitors call the office or come into the office looking for accommodations, this is the list we refer to. We do ask that you call the office back if you fill all your rooms.

The main office and the information center at Exit 22 are in contact with each other during the day and compare lists, so it is not necessary to call both offices.

"Brochure Distribution"

The Chamber runs two information centers in the Lake George area. The main office center is located on Route 9, south of Lake George Village (across the street from the entrance to Prospect Mt.) This office is open year round. The other information center is located at the intersection of Lake Shore Dr. and the entrance to the Northway. It is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

All members can distribute their brochures at these information centers. Brochures that are dropped off at either center are automatically shared with the other one. The main office sends out post cards to let you know when our supply of your brochure gets low.

ADVERTISING PLACEMENT SCHEDULE

Travel Service Advertisements:

This form of advertising produces the largest number of responses compared to all other advertising methods. Travel Services allow the reader to indicate the specific brochure information and literature that they wish to receive.

After the publication receives the reader request, mailing labels or computer disc (choice of advertiser) are then forwarded to the advertiser.

Travel Services are also very effective with keeping track of inquiries for further marketing tactics and strategies.

Generic Advertising:

The primary market for LGRCC Generic Advertising is the local Northeast region. Basically within a 2 hour radius. Specifically designed to reach day trippers and weekend vacationers. Generic ads range from 2 col. x 2" ads to 2 col. x 5" ads. These ads are specifically designed to promote seasonal activities as well as schedule of events for the Lake George area, i.e.: Fireworks.

Special Travel Sections:

Summer travel sections published by local, single market publications focusing on vacationing and outdoor activities. These sections have very large distributions, and are commonly distributed several times. Travel sections tend to be the "Premier" publication for these markets. Many newspapers distribute these sections to several markets and distribute to restaurants, information centers, malls, and any other high traffic areas.

Publications advertised in:

USA Today, Hartford Courant, New York Daily News, Springfield Sunday Republican, Schenectady Gazette, Bergen Record, Gannett New York Travel Group, Boston Herald, US Weekend, Newark Star Ledger, Press Republican, and Denton Publications.
